Psa Safe Pollen Treatment

Kiwi Pollen is continuing to develop the methodology for heat treatment of pollen. This involves testing the ability of pollen to withstand various times at different temperatures.  Plant & Food Research developed the thermal decay curve for Psa. The ’intersection’ (or cross-over) of the Psa decay curve and the Pollen survival curve gives the range for treatment of pollen.

Kiwi Pollen continues to work collaboratively with Plant & Food Research, Zespri and other pollen producers to identify an effective treatment to kill Psa, while maintaining the viability of the pollen.
